$17 Million of Exhibits Highlight Feb. 2006 Long Beach Expo

(Long Beach, California) -- Three numismatic exhibits with a combined value of more than $17 million will highlight the Long Beach Coin, Stamp & Collectibles Expo, Thursday to Saturday, February 9 to 11, 2006. The show will be conducted in the Long Beach, California Convention Center, 100 S. Pine Ave.

"As part of their 'World's Most Valuable Coins Tour,' Monaco Financial of Newport Beach, California will have an impressive, $5 million display entitled 'Early Americana Rarities,' and this will be the show’s featured exhibition. In addition to coins, it will include important, one-of-a-kind historical documents of the era, such as letters from the desk of George Washington," said Ronald J. Gillio, Expo General Chairman.

Among the coins in the Monaco Financial exhibit will be a unique 1795 $5 gold piece with a large eagle reverse, graded NGC Specimen 64; the only known proof 1800 $10, graded NGC Specimen 65; and one of the three known proof 1833 $5 gold pieces, graded NGC Proof 63.

Other special displays at the February show include the legendary King of Siam proof set given as a diplomatic gift by a representative of President Andrew Jackson to the King of Siam (now Thailand) in 1836. The set will be displayed by Steven L. Contursi, President of Rare Coin Wholesalers, who recently purchased it for a record $8.5 million.

Professional Coin Grading Service will exhibit the finest collection of $10 Indian Head gold coins in the PCGS Set Registry(SM). The set was assembled by Los Angeles collector, John Kutasi, who values it at more than $3.5 million. The display includes a 1933 Eagle.

A half dozen educational seminars will be presented free during the Long Beach Expo by well-known hobby experts, and Troy Thoreson, a representative of eBay will conduct two programs about buying and selling collectibles online, at noon on Friday and Saturday, February 10 and 11.

"Three major grading services will provide on-site grading and encapsulation during the show: Professional Coin Grading Service, Numismatic Guaranty Corporation and ANACS. A gold coin door prize will awarded each day by the Long Beach Expo, and the extremely popular Kid's Treasure Hunt will be conducted on Saturday," said Gillio.

Heritage Auction Galleries (www.HeritageGalleries.com) of Dallas, Texas, the official auctioneer of the Long Beach Expo, will conduct a major sale of coins and bank notes.

During the show nearly 2,000 dealers will be buying and selling rare coins, paper money, postage stamps, postcards, autographs, historical documents, antiques and estate jewelry. Many of the dealers will provide free, informal appraisals for the public.
